Why it matters

Why furnace installation is worth doing right

A furnace that's the wrong size or poorly vented wastes fuel and wears out early. We run a load calculation on your home, match the furnace to it, and handle the venting and gas work to code, so you get even heat and a system that lasts its full life.

If you're replacing a 15 to 20 year old furnace, the efficiency jump alone is worth a look. Older units often run at 70 to 80 percent AFUE, while a modern high-efficiency furnace runs 95 percent or higher, turning more of every dollar of gas into actual heat.

Time for a new furnace?

Signs it's time to replace your furnace

Replacement is usually the smarter move when:

  • Your furnace is past 15 to 20 years old
  • Repairs are getting frequent or expensive
  • A major component like the heat exchanger has failed
  • Heating bills keep climbing as efficiency drops
  • Some rooms never warm up evenly
  • The burner flame is yellow, or you've had carbon-monoxide concerns
  • You want the efficiency of a 95 percent or higher AFUE unit

How it works

What to expect with furnace installation

  1. 01

    Assess and size

We assess your existing system and venting and run a load calculation, so the new furnace matches your home rather than the old unit.

  2. 02

    Recommend and quote

We lay out the right efficiency and size for your home and budget, with a clear price and no upsell.

  3. 03

    Install to code

We set the furnace and handle the venting, gas, and electrical work to code, including any required upgrades.

  4. 04

    Test and verify

We start the system, verify combustion, airflow, and safe shutoff, and confirm even heat before we leave.

Your options

Repair or replace?

When a big repair lands on an older furnace, these rules help, and we'll talk them through honestly:

The 50% rule

If one repair costs more than half the price of a new furnace, replacement is usually the better money, especially past the unit's prime.

Age and lifespan

Furnaces typically last 15 to 20 years. Under about 10 and well maintained usually favors repair; well past it favors replacement.

The safety exception

A cracked heat exchanger means replace, regardless of the math. It's a carbon-monoxide risk we won't ask you to live with.

Repair-or-replace decision guide: repair when the cost is under half a new system, replace when the unit's age times the repair cost runs over about $5,000
A quick way to weigh repair against replacement before you spend a dollar.

Fair, upfront pricing

What affects the cost

We quote every install after we size the furnace to your home. The drivers:

  • Furnace efficiency (the AFUE rating)
  • Gas versus electric, and any venting or gas-line changes
  • Whether existing ductwork is reused or modified
  • Electrical and code upgrades the install requires
  • Equipment brand, warranty term, and old-unit disposal

Every job is different, so you get a clear quote before any work starts, with no surprises. Financing is available, so the right fix doesn't have to wait. We're licensed (WESTSCS752MT) and insured, and we back our work with a 1-year workmanship guarantee.

Warranty coverage

The warranty behind your new system

These are three separate kinds of coverage, and they protect different things. The manufacturer warranty covers the equipment, our workmanship guarantee covers the quality of the installation, and the optional JB Warranties plan covers labor.

Up to 12-Year Manufacturer Warranty On Mitsubishi systems we install as a Diamond Contractor: up to 12-year parts and compressor coverage on qualifying residential installs, when registered within 90 days. We handle the registration for you.
Up to 10-Year Manufacturer Warranty On American Standard units we install: up to 10-year registered parts coverage (5-year base) when registered within 60 days. Covers parts, not labor. We handle the registration so you keep the full term.
1-Year Workmanship Guarantee Our own guarantee on the quality of the install. If our work isn't right, we make it right.
Optional Extended Labor Warranty Optional 5, 10, or 12-year labor coverage available through our JB Warranties partnership, covering labor plus a refrigerant allowance, separate from the manufacturer's parts coverage. Quoted per job.
We treat every furnace installation job like it's in our own home: diagnose it right, quote it fair, and stand behind the work.

Questions

Common questions about furnace installation

How long does a furnace installation take?

Most straightforward replacements are done in a day. We'll confirm the scope after we assess your existing system and venting.

Should I replace my furnace or repair it?

If your furnace is aging, failing often, or unsafe, replacement is usually the better value. We give you the honest math on repair versus replace before you decide.

How much can a high-efficiency furnace save me?

Going from an older 70 to 80 percent AFUE furnace to a 95 percent or higher unit means much more of your gas turns into heat instead of going up the flue. The exact savings depend on your home and gas rates, but the difference is meaningful over a heating season.

What size furnace do I need?

The right size comes from a load calculation on your home's square footage, insulation, windows, and layout, not from matching the old unit. An oversized furnace short cycles and wears out faster, so we size it correctly.

When does a furnace have to be replaced for safety?

A cracked heat exchanger is the clearest case. It can leak carbon monoxide, so we recommend replacement regardless of the unit's age or the repair math. We'll always show you what we find.
