Overview
Outlet, Switch & Fixture Installation done right
Westside Comfort Solutions is a licensed electrical contractor serving Renton, WA that installs and replaces outlets, switches, and light fixtures throughout the home.
The small electrical jobs still have to be done right. We add outlets where you actually need them, put GFCI protection where code requires it, and hang fixtures and fans on boxes rated to hold them.
- New and relocated outlets
- GFCI and AFCI protection for kitchens, baths, garages, and outdoors
- Dimmers, smart switches, and timers
- Ceiling fans and light fixtures on rated boxes
- Under-cabinet, recessed, and exterior lighting
Why it matters
Why outlet, switch & fixture installation is worth doing right
Running everything off a power strip, hunting for an outlet behind the couch, or living with a dead receptacle gets old fast. So does a light switch that has to be jiggled or a ceiling fan that wobbles because it was hung on a box never meant for it.
We handle the work most people would rather not DIY around live wires: adding and moving outlets, swapping in GFCI and AFCI protection, installing dimmers and smart switches, and mounting fixtures and fans safely.

Warning signs
When to call for outlet, switch, or fixture work
These are the everyday electrical jobs we get asked for:
- Relying on power strips and extension cords for daily use
- Two-prong, ungrounded, or loose-feeling outlets
- No GFCI protection near sinks, in the garage, or outdoors
- A dead outlet or one that only works sometimes
- Wanting dimmers, smart switches, or USB outlets
- Hanging a ceiling fan where only a light box exists
- Adding under-cabinet, recessed, or exterior lighting
How it works
What to expect with outlet, switch & fixture installation
- 01
Check the circuit
We confirm the circuit can carry what you're adding, so a new outlet or fixture doesn't overload an existing run.
- 02
Run and mount
We extend or add wiring, set the box, and mount it solidly, including fan-rated boxes where a fan or heavy fixture is going.
- 03
Wire the device
We land the device, add GFCI or AFCI protection where code calls for it, and make every connection clean and tight.
- 04
Test and trim
We test the outlet, switch, or fixture under load and finish the trim so it looks and works right.
Fair, upfront pricing
What affects the cost
Small jobs are usually quoted per device or per visit. What affects it:
- Whether we tie into an existing circuit or run a new one
- Wall and ceiling finish and how easy the box is to reach
- Fixture height and ceiling type for fans and chandeliers
- The number of devices done in one visit
- Whether GFCI or AFCI protection is being added
Every job is different, so you get a clear quote before any work starts, with no surprises. We're licensed (WESTSCS752MT) and insured, and we back our work with a 1-year workmanship guarantee.
We treat every outlet, switch & fixture installation job like it's in our own home: diagnose it right, quote it fair, and stand behind the work.

Questions
Common questions about outlet, switch & fixture installation
Can you add an outlet where there isn't one now?
Usually, yes. We tie into a nearby circuit or run a new one if needed, set the box, and make sure the added load is safe for that circuit. We'll confirm the best spot with you.
Where am I required to have GFCI outlets?
Code requires GFCI protection near sinks and water, including kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor outlets. If yours are missing, we can add the protection at the outlet or the breaker.
Can you install a ceiling fan where I only have a light?
Yes, but the box has to be fan-rated to carry the weight and motion. If the existing box isn't, we replace it with a rated one so the fan is mounted safely.
Do smart switches need a neutral wire?
Most do. Many older boxes don't have a neutral, so we check before we install and let you know your options if one isn't present rather than leaving you with a switch that won't work.
