What residential heating and cooling covers
Most Washington homes are kept comfortable by one of three setups, and knowing which one you have makes every repair-or-replace conversation clearer.
- Furnaces burn gas (or use electric heat) to warm air, then push it through your ducts with a blower. They only heat, so they’re usually paired with a separate AC unit for summer.
- Heat pumps don’t create heat, they move it. In winter they pull warmth from the outdoor air and bring it inside; in summer they run in reverse to pull heat out of your home. One system, both jobs.
- Ductless mini-splits are heat pumps without the ductwork: ideal for older homes, additions, or rooms that never get comfortable. See ductless mini-split installation for how we size and place them.
Repairs: an honest diagnosis first
A system rarely fails all at once. It usually warns you first with weak airflow, short cycling, a spike in your energy bill, or strange noises and smells. Most no-heat and no-cool calls then come down to a single part, not a whole system, so we test the actual unit before we quote, and we’ve repaired plenty that other companies called impossible.

Installations and replacements
When replacement really is the smarter move, a new system is only as good as its installation. A unit that’s too large short-cycles and wears out early; one that’s too small never keeps up. We size every system to your actual home, not a rule of thumb, and commission it by the numbers so you get the efficiency, comfort, and equipment life you paid for.

Seasonal maintenance
A yearly tune-up is the cheapest insurance you can buy for your system: it catches the small stuff before it becomes a no-heat night and keeps most manufacturer warranties valid. See what a visit covers on our heating and cooling maintenance page.
